Note: To perform this firmware update, you will need to have a memory stick (A memory stick is not supplied with the MPD-AP20U product packaging). This firmware updater is offered and available only for MPD-AP20U owners who have a memory stick, and will not be distributed otherwise.
The firmware 1.0C upgrade will fix the issue with displaying inaccurate battery life and make audio playback improvements.

1. Copy the firmware onto a Memory Stick. The firmware 1.0C can be upgraded only through the Memory Stick and NOT from a CD/DVD disc.
2. Ensure there is no CD/DVD disc in the drive.
3. Ensure the drive is powered on using the AC adapter supplied with the MPD-AP20U.
4. When the drive is ready, insert the Memory Stick that contains the firmware file entitled 'update.pac'.
5. Once the Memory Stick is inserted into the Memory Stick slot, the LCD screen on the remote control will indicate 1.0a-1.0c.
6. The firmware is upgraded by pressing inward on the stop button located on the right side/front of the remote control. The LCD screen will display that it is reading. After the firmware has been updated the LCD screen will display: 1.0c ok!
7. After the firmware is upgraded successfully you will need to reset the drive by inserting a paper clip through the pin-sized hole located on the bottom of the drive where the word RESET is engraved. NOTE!! The Memory Stick must be removed from the Memory Stick slot on the drive before the drive is RESET. If for some reasons the Memory Stick with the file update.pac was not removed, please remove and erase the file update.pac from the Memory Stick. It is necessary to reset the drive after the Memory Stick that contains file update.pac has been removed.
8. The drive is now ready to use.
