How do I eliminate popping and cracking noises from an audio CD?

Answer:

When clicks, pops, and/or hissing within a song or audio track can be heard, you'll need to figure out the cause of the noises. First, use your CD-R or CD-RW drive as the source and extract the songs or audio tracks as Wav files. You can then sample the Wav files on your hard drive for clarity. If it sounds clear, you can record the songs to a blank CD, and it should sound as clear as on the computer. If the Wav files on the hard drive still contain clicking or popping noises, you can either slow the extraction speed, try another recording software, or clean the original CD.
