How can I create a bootable CD with Discribe?
Discribe versions 2.41 and older does not support creating a bootable CD-ROM from scratch (using a current valid System folder that resides on a hard disk). Not to fear, however. We do have a workaround for you (especially for you iMac and Blue G3 users).
The workaround consists of Disc Copying a known bootable CD, burning the copy as a session allowing you to write other sessions with your desired data to the disc afterwards. Usually the CD that came with your Mac works best. Follow these steps:
1. Launch Discribe. 2. Click the 'Source' button. 3. Click the 'Disc Copy' button on the right hand side of Discribe interface. 4. Discribe will scan the bus so that it can locate a valid CD recorder. Click Done. 5. Discribe will prompt you to insert the source disk into the burner for reading. Insert the bootable CD and click 'Read.' 6. Discribe will ask you where you would like the disk image saved. Select a location in the dialog box. 7. After Discribe is done reading the CD it will add the data to the Image screen. Click Done. 8. Discribe will scan the bus to locate your CD recorder, when it finishes it will present you with the Recorder screen. Here you can change the Write Speed, or do a Speed Check. for all intensive purposes, you can just click Done. 9. Next, Discribe will present you with the Write screen. Click the button labeled 'Write Session.' 10. Discribe will double check that this is the action you want to do, click OK. 11. Discribe will burn the copied image as a session leaving the media open for more burns. you can then burn any other data you like to the CD. Happy booting...
Update: Discribe 2.57 and newer now supports the creation of a bootable CD through the Discribe application and is now available.
