Are CD-RW discs compatible with CD-ROM drives?
Answer:
Most newer CD-ROM drives can read CD-RW discs. A CD-ROM drive has to meet Multi Read specifications to be able to read a CD-RW formatted disc, however. Very few older CD-ROM drives (slower than 12X) meet these standards. There is a website at http://www.osta.org that lists CD-ROM drive manufacturers that meet the Multi Read specifications.
