How do I copy a disc from my CD-ROM to a blank CD in my CD-Recorder drive using Sony CD Extreme software?

Answer:

The following procedure is for copying a disc directly from another drive, either a CD-ROM, DVD-ROM or an unused recorder. If you do not want to copy directly because a reliable and fast source CD drive is not available, or if you prefer to go via file image, please follow "How to Make and Record a Disc Image" later in this chapter.

Use a CD to CD Direct Copy job to copy an entire CD (of any type), either directly from CD to CD, or via a Global-CD Image created and temporarily stored on the hard disk.

1. Select File: New Job: Disc to Disc Copy. A copy job setup panel will be created in the job setup window.

2. Select the unit you will use as your source for the copy: right-click on the desired drive (listed in the drive status window) and choose Select/Deselect as Reader from the menu; alternatively, select the drive with a single click, then press the shift key and either double click on the drive icon or press Shift-F8. You can set different source drives for different copy jobs, but only one source drive per job. A source drive should have read speed capability for the CD format greater than the selected record drive(s) to avoid buffer underrun conditions and wasted CD-Rs. A blue right facing arrow indicates a selected reader drive for a job.

3. Select the recorder(s) that will record this job. Selecting more than one unit will enable the HyperDrive function, which records to two CD-R drives simultaneously. NOTE: The red arrow indicates the drive(s) that are selected for recording and the blue arrow indicates the drive that holds the source CD.

4. Specify the number of copies for the job and the recording speed in the windows provided.

5. To proceed with recording, first make sure that the master CD is loaded into the proper source drive, then click the Record icon on the setup panel.
