What is the very minimal extension set I can use with my Sony Spressa USB CD-RW?
For the CRX 100 E/X drive, the only extensions that are required to use the Spressa CD-RW drive are the CD-Rom extension and the two Shuttle extensions (named: Shuttle USB-ATAPI SIM 1.0 and Shuttle USB ATAPI).
For the CRX 100E/X2 drive, the only extensions that are required to use the Spressa CD-RW drive are CD-Rom extension and the two Charismac Onspec extensions (named: Charismac Onspec SIM 1.07c and Charismac Onspec USBD 1.07c).
These are the extensions are what allow Discribe to see the CD-RW drive. Note: Audio extraction will not be possible with this extension set.
To gain audio extraction functionality through Discribe, you will need to enable the CD-ROM Extension (our universal CD-ROM device driver), Audio CD Access, Foreign File Access, High Sierra File Access, ISO 9660 File Access and all the Quicktime related extensions.
Testing of this solution was done with several different revision iMacs and Blue G3 machines with full system Extension sets turned on. The only extension that was turned off was the Apple CD/DVD Driver so no conflicts would arise from the use of both it and our own universal CD-ROM driver.
