My tape machine snapped the end of the tape off the spool, what is the issue?
Answer:
This is a rare issue, usually caused by the following:
- Over use of the tape
Tapes have a life expectancy of approximately two to three years.
- Usage of the tape may have occured outsite the bounds of the specification
In other words, the recording took place in an environment that was too hot or too humid. Make certain the room is cool and has a low level of humdity.
- Drive Releated Issue
This could be an issue caused by the tape drive not properly sensing or reading the end of the tape.
The tape will remain inside the drive when the media has snapped. The LED will flash Waiting for Reset indicated by the Busy LED indicator flashing every second.
