Is it necessary to install Sony Windows tape and medium changer drivers?
Answer:
Please do not install the Sony Windows tape and medium changer drivers unless instructed to do so by your tape backup application.
The Sony Windows tape and medium changer drivers are necessary for Windows Backup if the Sony tape device is not natively supported.
Note: During Veritas Backup Exec installation do not select vendor supplied Windows Tape and Medium changer drivers. Follow Veritas's recommendation and use their supplied tape driver. By the way Veritas uses SPTI to communicate to the Sony tape library so no Medium Changer driver is necessary.
