For Tape Alert Flags that pertain to drive write or read issues Sony recommends that a cleaning cartridge be applied to the suspect tape drive. If Tape Alert Flags continue after cleaning the Sony Tape Tool is available to check the tape drive and/or suspect tape media. The Read test will attempt to read a previously written tape. The Write and Read test came be used with a new piece of media.
