What other equipment do I need to make MyDVD work?

Answer:

MyDVD is the fastest and easiest way to get video onto DVD. But it doesn't do its job alone. MyDVD is the software component of an overall system that includes a computer, video capture hardware, and disc recording drives.

The following should give you an idea of everything you need to get the most out of MyDVD:

Windows PC with:

  • Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP
  • PIII 600MHz (1.2GHz Pentium 4 recommended for excellent capture performance)
  • 128MB system RAM (256MB recommended)
  • 10 GB hard disk space
  • DVD recorder or CD recorder (CDs will only play back on PCs or set-top DVD players that support recordable CDs)
  • Video capture hardware
  • Speakers connected to your PC sound card If your PC meets the minimum requirements, you should be able to run MyDVD.

Performance improves considerably with higher CPU speeds and larger amounts of system memory (RAM).

Note: Windows 98 does not support IEEE 1394, Firewire, or i.Link.

Hardware approved and tested for MyDVD 4:

Sonic's Q&A department has tested and approved the following hardware listed on this website: Sonic MyDVD > Tested Hardware > Video Capture Devices
