What is a "television standard"?
Different countries use different television standards; either NTSC or PAL. MyDVD selects the correct television standard for your DVD projects based on your Windows operating system's country code. If necessary, you can change the television standard in MyDVD's preferences. You might wish to do this if you are creating a DVD that you'd like to send to friends or relatives who live in a country that uses a different TV standard. The following table shows the technical differences between NTSC and PAL:
PAL:
Lines: 625
Frame rate: 25 Hz
Picture resolution: 720 x 576; 704 x 576; 352 x 576; 352 x 288
NTSC:
Lines: 525
Frame rate: 29.97 Hz
Picture resolutions: 720 x 480; 704 x 480; 352 x 480; 352 x 24
