Description
Burning/Writing issues

Symptom
When trying to burn, I get the error "Device Error sense code (3 0c 08) OSErr 199688"

Solution
This error isn't restricted to DVDit! or MyDVD and usually only happens when burning -/+R discs. However there are some steps you can take to reduce the chances of getting this error.

1. If you have the Sony DRU-500a, Sony has updated the firmware for this burner to 1.0d and seems to resolve most issues. Sony also recommends TDK, Maxell and Pioneer for DVD -R; and Sony, Ricoh and Mitsubishi for DVD +R. This usually fixes the problem and should be tried first.
2. Make sure that you have the most recent version of Sonic software as older versions do not support +R drives and some other media.
3. Build your session to your hard drive and then burn the volume to reduce stress on the burner, the computer, and the application. Instruction links are below as well.
4. Make sure that you have the most recent ASPI layer for your computer. Win2k users and below should be at ASPI 4.6 and XP users should be at 4.72. A link on how to acquire this is below.
