How much can I fit on a disc?
The amount of video you can fit on a disc depends on both the disc type and the video quality.
DVD durations
These are typical DVD-Video durations for different disc types at different video quality
settings:
| Video Quality | 4.7 GB DVD | 3.95 GB DVD |
| Best | 60 minutes | 50 minutes |
| Better | 120 minutes | 100 minutes |
| Good | 180 minutes | 150 minutes |
These durations are only for video captured in MyDVD. If you use files from other sources, such as AVI files, MyDVD converts the files using the "Best" quality setting, which means you can fit about 60 minutes of video onto a 4.7 GB DVD.
Note: The video quality level depends on your PC's speed and graphics processing abilities. Slower PCs may be unable to create video at the best quality setting.
VCD durations
VCD recordings have only one quality setting -- Good. You can fit about 60 minutes onto a 650 MB CD or 65 minutes onto a 700 MB CD.
