What do I do if the Write / Read Function Check for Sony Tape Tool for Linux, Mac OS X or Sun Solaris fails?
Answer:
For Medium errors please follow this procedure:
Apply a Sony Cleaning Cartridge a few times for DDS tape drives/autoloaders (do not exceed five applications) and one time for AIT tape drives/autoloaders, restart Write/Read test.
If the error condition reappears (or a cleaning request appears) please repeat cleaning process one additional time, restart Write/Read test. If you still encounter problems please contact Sony Technical support.
Note: Please make sure you are using a brand new Sony DDS/AIT tape when running the Write / Read test. Also close all programs running in the background, including your anti-virus software.
