AVCHD is a high definition format that is being supported by several camcorder manufacturers for capturing 1080i HD video. It is highly compressed yet can be recorded to a standard DVD+R/+RW disc using the VRD-MC5 and played back on Blu-ray Disc® compatible devices including consumer set top players, PlayStation. 3 (PS3®) computer entertainment systems, and PC's with Blu-ray disc drives.
