When the camcorder is connected to the VRD-MC5's Handycam USB port and the camcorder's Disc (DVD) Burn button is pressed, the VRD-MC5 analyzes how much video is to be transferred and will display on the LCD screen how many discs will be needed. While recording, when the end of a disc is reached, the VRD-MC5 ejects the disc and asks for another to be inserted. This continues until all the selected video has been transferred. This is called 'spanning' multiple discs.
