MyDVD Update
I am having a read/write problem with the DVD media bundle with my drive.
Sony has discovered problems with some of the DVD+RW media bundled with the following Dual RW drive models: DRU-500A, DRX-500UL, DRU-500AX, DRX-500ULX. If you are having a problem recording to or reading from a Sony DVD+RW disc that was bundled with your drive, please click here for more information.
What is the difference between the DRU500A and DRU500AX and the DRX500UL and DRX500ULX?
The hardware is identical. The software that comes with the DRU500A and DRX500UL is on a CD-ROM disc and you will need to download the latest updates to the software from the Internet. The DRU500AX and DRX500ULX comes on a DVD-ROM disc and has all the latest software updates included. Both drives can be updated to the same, latest firmware.

Why is RecordNow telling me I have the wrong version of Windows Media Player (WMP) after I just installed WMP 10?
RecordNow interacts with the Windows Media Player when creating audio discs. The main usage is to extract audio track information.
After installing WMP 10 on a system with an older version of RecordNow installed will result in an error message being displayed that the version of the Windows Media Player is not correct and the CD lookup function will fail to extract the track information.
Please download and install the patch appropriate for your version of RecordNow.
Updates to Sonic products are typically delivered through the Sonic Update Manager application. Select "Check for Updates" in the Help menu of your Sonic application.
When I launch the Record Now program I receive an error message "Could not complete the last command because of a unknown error ". How can I resolve this?
Please go to the Microsoft website and download the latest version of Windows Media Player.
When trying to play a DVD movie with Power DVD the sound/video is distorted.
Please try the following to fix this issue:
1. Disable the "Enable Audio Digital" for the DVD drive . To do this go to Device Manager, right click on the Sony DVD drive , go to Properties and remove the check from "Enable Audio Digital".
2. Make sure you have the latest upgrades for you sound and video card. Please contact the manufacture of these cards for the updates.
3. Disable your Anti-Virus programs. Some Anti-Virus programs will start up when you try to play a DVD movie and cause distortion.
