This update includes support for Windows® 2000 and XP. This update applies to all Sony CD Extreme users and contains updated software drivers. (This update is not compatible with CD-RW drives produced by other manufacturers.)
The computer boots up and the BIOS can recognize the primary (master/slave) hard disk drive, but it cannot recognize all devices connected to the secondary hard disk drive. Why?
Is the power connected?
Is the IDE interface cable correctly connected? (Make sure it is completely plugged in)
Is the setup correct? Is the position of the jumper pin correctly set?
In the BIOS, is the secondary disabled? (For detailed information on BIOS settings, please contact the PC's manufacturer)
Is the secondary's interface cable too long? (Has it exceeded the ATAPI specification of 18 inches/45cm?)
Is the IDE cable's pin twisted? (Also, make sure there is no reversed insertion.)
My Sony drive records and reads just fine, but whenever I try to play a game I get an error indicating my optical drive is not detected. What is causing this issue?

Will an 80 wire cable with 40 pin connectors work with Sony DVD/CD recorders?
The 80 wire cable with 40 pin connectors preserves signal integrity. Using the 80 wire cables with this type of construction allows the maximum data rates of ATA66, ATA100 and ATA133 to be reached. This cable is used primarily for Ultra DMA configurations but will also work on Sony DVD/CD burner.
***Note*** Sony recorders are only supported on Ultra DMA built into the motherboard. They are not supported on Ultra DMA cards added to the system.
I am having problems burning with my Sony CDRW/DVDRW under Windows 2000/XP. What could be a possible solution?
